About Us

A passion for good food and the poor availability of  quality fresh herbs inspired Alison Dodd to start growing her own herbs in Yorkshire 17 years ago. Alison started her career as a Cordon Bleu chef in the family restaurant, and soon recognised the need for a good supply of fresh herbs in the catering industry. Herbs Unlimited progressed from supplying local Restaurants and Hotels to supplying the catering trade throughout the North of England and businesses within the food processing sector. Fresh herbs have been gradually rediscovered as a primary source of flavour, and with more people concerned with healthy eating, and with the desire to support local producers and reduce "food  miles", demand has continued to increase.

 To further develop the business further in 2002  Alison went into partnership with a local farmer, Trevor Bosomworth, in Sandhutton, near Thirsk and the business was incorporated as Sandhutton Growers Ltd. A new site was developed, which included, 2 acres of poly tunnels and glasshouses, a state of the art packhouse and 35 acres of field crops.

We specialise in high quality fresh cut herbs and baby salads. The polytunnels give us an extended season  to grow  our unique range of  baby leaves and speciality herbs, and this is done to the highest specification using innovative growing methods and biological controls. Our dedicated Growers are committed to producing crops in as natural and environmentally sensitive way they can.

Our modern packing facilities allow rapid high humidity chilling of our fresh cut products and has air conditioned high and low care areas, along with washing, chopping and slicing equipment to allow us to produce  a wide range of product specifications.As members of Efsis Assured Produce Scheme, the British Herb Trade Association and with BRC Certification, we follow strict procedures and protocols to which we are regularly independently audited, ensuring our products are produced to a consistently high standard.We can wash, chop ,slice and pack any product to order.

To complement our seasonal production, we import directly from quality controlled growers in Israel and Spain.This allows us to meet year round demand from our loyal customers, while ensuring we have full traceability from field to fork.
