Summer Herbs (our speciality)

These culinary herbs are what we like to call our “speciality” product and an area of the business that we all really enjoy being involved with.

They are an addition to the standard herb crops and are for the customer who is looking for ‘something different’. With these less common herbs our clients are able to push the boundary of food flavour and experiment with new ideas.

Many of these culinary herbs have been long forgotten and it’s refreshing to see some of our chefs re-creating the traditional uses fro them, along with some new and innovative recipes.

In creating their dishes and products our clients can also boast that some of these more exotic sounding herbs have been sourced within the UK and locally – this is always a good selling point.

The majority of our crop is available for our full growing season from May to September, with some exceptions, as a guide, availability is as follows:

Full Season (May – September)

Pineapple Mint, Winter Savory, Hyssop, Lovage, Lemon Verbena, Lemon Balm, Garlic Chives, Lavender, Green Fennel, Bronze Fennel, Lemon Thyme, Mexican Tarragon.

July – September

The above plus – Chocolate Mint, Basil Mint, Banana Mint, Lime Mint, Purple Basil, Greek Basil, Thai Basil (July and August), Lime Basil, Lemon Basil, Lemon Grass, Nasturtium Leaves, Summer Savory, Edible Flowers, Pineapple Sage, Blackcurrant Sage.
